Bridge to a Career in Construction
Bridge to a Career in Construction is a unique, pre-apprenticeship programme run by The Talent Foundry in partnership with Mace Group - a global consultancy and construction company.
What's involved?
For Year 12 students in London, this programme introduces the apprenticeship opportunities at Mace Group, including degree apprenticeships in construction, planning, and project management. With bespoke training and coaching available, students will have a head start for the apprenticeship application process and build their skills and confidence to help them secure a top rated apprenticeship.
During the Summer Term, students will take part in five skills-based workshops, including four in-person sessions hosted at Mace Group sites. There, they will learn directly from colleagues already working in the industry and current apprentices in their early careers and visit one of the team's London projects.
Each workshop is fully facilitated by one of our TTF facilitators and each student will benefit from one-to-one coaching throughout the programme and during the application process. Students will also take part in a 3-day summer residential in August, where they will take part in physical challenges, strengthening their team-work, collaboration and leadership skills. This programme also offers a masterclass with international headhunters Odgers Berndtson.
Bridge to a Career in Construction will offer students the opportunity to:
- Understand the different roles within construction including project management, sustainability and many more.
- Challenge stereotypes of the careers available within the construction industry.
- Develop essential and core employability skills, such as speaking, team work and problem-solving.
- Understand the apprenticeship application process and understand what employers will be looking for in their applications.
What do former students say?
One of our Bridge students from last year's Career in Construction programme, Tyler, says to those who are considering this opportunity:
Go for it. This programme is probably the most important thing I've done - I wouldn't have got the help and guidance I've had from anywhere else. I wouldn't have been as successful if I hadn't done the programme.
And of the residential
It gave me confidence and allowed me to overcome my fears and anxiety and the voice that holds me back
