7th June 2023 Celebrating Volunteers' Week
This Volunteers' Week we've been celebrating the contribution of volunteers from businesses and organisations across the UK that support young people discover what they are amazing at.
Having role models join our workshops in-real-life, gives young people a new perspective on what the world of work is like. And it helps them to visualise themselves in those roles or organisations in the future.
We couldn't support young people without the 1,000s of volunteers giving up their time and expertise. Hear why they enjoy supporting young people in the classroom.
"I learnt a lot about myself - my strengths and weaknesses. It forced me to go outside my comfort zone. Seeing all the students grow in confidence, ability and commitment was quite emotional. I was able to relate to them through my own challenges growing up and I felt a connection was created as a result." Dell Technologies: Powering Potential
"It was good to interact in a smaller group where it gave some of the quieter students the opportunity to speak more freely. The topics of conversation were wide-ranging and engaging for myself and I hope for the students as well." Maven: Secure your potential
"It was an opportunity to give something back. I feel extremely lucky to participate in this programme as a volunteer. It gave me an insight into how young people in further education view the software industry." SAS: Future Analysts
"Being an apprentice who went through the Bridge programme with The Talent Foundry, it was great to give back. The students and staff were all friendly and I had a really great time helping out." Bridge to financial services
"The workshop was a great opportunity to impact the emerging generation with the right skills for the future." KPMG: WorkReady
"It really made me remember why I went into nursing. The best thing was hearing the students say what they thought nurses did and how grateful they were for us." NHS NextGen Nurse Ambassador
