This week we are highlighting the amazing volunteers that support young people on The Talent Foundry’s programmes.

For day three of Volunteers’ Week, we wanted to take a moment to recognise one of our star Network Rail volunteers: Anthony Doyle.

In partnership with Network Rail, we have been delivering Lightbulb Moments workshops and Track to the Future employability programmes to students across the nation.

The support of Network Rail volunteers in these sessions is invaluable; providing students with the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals.

Over the past two years, Anthony has attended 10 sessions and contributed 34 hours to these programmes, making a big difference to the lives of young people from underserved communities.

Why I volunteer

“The programme has been fun and has given me an opportunity to engage with the creativity and imagination of young students who are being introduced to the rail industry.

“It is great to help young people learn about the different skills they can use in engineering and the work environment.

“It is also an opportunity for me to explore and develop my own communication and teamwork skills in a different environment.”

What students say

I learnt a lot about project management and had lots of fun while doing so. The Network Rail volunteers were all really nice and provided in-depth insights into what it’s like at the company.

I loved the support we got and how we were given the independence to think of ideas on our own.

Thank you Anthony!

Anthony Doyle is Senior Maintenance Support Engineer, Southern Region at Network Rail
