Students discuss tech options with volunteers from Dell Technologies

The Talent Foundry team visited British Esports in Sunderland for this year's fourth and final #PoweringPotential workshop in Teesside this month.

Powering Potential is all about bringing together a 'collaborative technology ecosystem' in the Tees Valley. Connecting local and national employers with the talented and inspirational young people in the area.

This year industry volunteers from Dell Technologies, Microsoft, CyberWhite Ltd, Teesside University, The BIS, Tanglewood Games, RWE, Tees Valley Combined Authority and British Esports have shared advice, guidance, and top tips about how to get into the industry. The final session culminated in a live esports challenge using some of the state-of-the-art technology found at British Esports, The Place.

Students shared the following after the programme:

This programme has made me a happier person

You can do anything you put your mind to. Don't give up!

I now see tech is more involved in different industries.

Cate Smith, Head of Programmes and Partnerships at The Talent Foundry said:

"We are really proud that many of our students have embarked on Teesside University Winter Courses as a result of this programme, and we're really looking forward to hearing about the work experience that some students have lined up too."

This programme is made possible through the generous support of Dell Technologies, and kicks off in Manchester on Thursday 29 February at University Academy 92 (UA92), where we'll also be joined by ANS Group and Microsoft alongside our brilliant Dell Technologies mentors.

We'd like to express our thanks to Middlesbrough College, Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington College and Hartlepool Sixth Form and all the fantastic students - we can't wait to hear about your futures in the tech world.
