1st January 2022 Year 13 students learn about M&G apprenticeships
As Bridge to M&G draws to a close we want to reflect on a fantastic programme. Thirty 16 - 18 year olds from in and around London and Edinburgh took part, we delivered four two-hour workshops, we provided and run two one-hour coaching sessions per students, and one two-hour workshop with international headhunters Odgers Berndtson. The M&G staff team volunteered 80 hours in total.
We have loved delivering the Bridge to M&G plc pre-apprenticeship programme and the students and teachers have enjoyed it as much as we have. Feedback has included:
“All the staff involved in the programme have given amazing advice and have encouraged me to do well in the future.” Tahsin
“It was incredibly beneficial and provided lots of information that has been very useful. The programme also afforded me the opportunity to ask questions when needed. It was incredibly engaging which made it a very enjoyable experience.” Ben
“Some students were shy and lacked confidence before the programme, but they ended the programme with added confidence. They are able to link their experiences into competencies and attributes employers look for when recruiting.” Angela Coleby, Goffs Academy
“It was very comprehensive and stretched the students in ways they did not expect. As such, I think they gained invaluable employability skills and insights into the world of work.” Ned Browne, Southfields Academy
Through bi-weekly workshops with M&G colleagues and apprentices, coaching sessions with professional Talent Foundry facilitators, and an employability masterclass from Odgers Berndtson, students have received advice and mentoring to help them succeed in the application and interview process for apprenticeship roles at M&G.
The Bridge programme was designed in close collaboration with M&G, aiming to level the playing field of apprenticeship applications by helping young people learn what employers want and build their confidence.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this programme a success, particularly Maria Wilcockson and the colleagues and apprentices at M&G, who gave such fantastic advice and support to the students throughout the programme.
Wishing the students the best of luck with their applications to the M&G apprenticeships!
